I guess I can only post in new user lounge to start so i'll start here.  I have pre-newbie questions before I can even try a first install.

First hackintosh attempt, lurked for years and still figuring out what things mean.  No way to start making sense of it until I finally delve in though.

Recently got an HP Z440 workstation specifically to try to make a hackintosh out of.  I need to be familiar with Mac ecosystem and run Adobe and final cut for video production classes at college.  Has a xeon and 32gigs ram or something, RX 470 video card with display port outs, thunderbolt 2 card (connected to supported TB2 ability on the motherboard - the Z440 had that as an option, whether or not it can work here), and I have either a 120gig or 240gig SATA SSD I can throw in there but I wasn't sure if SSD's made it easier or harder (read something about TRIM commands and wearing out SSD's and things I didn't understand at some point that I took notes warning about), wonder whether it can get by on the 120gig one or none at all to start.  (rather use the 240 in a different project for now)

I still don't 100% understand the wifi/bluetooth issue because i'll be using wired ethernet - from what I understand both are still needed to identify something with apple's servers to download updates or use the store or something..?  It was unclear whether I can just make an offline installer from USB getting me all the way online and add the wifi/bt thing later if needed or if that really needs to be in there on first install.

Next question is which version of OSX should I try to put onto it?  Hardware compatibility seems to differ (at least which wifi cards) but some versions might just be easier or harder than others as well.  Looking for the easiest install that can get me a system working on the internet.  I expect to eventually install other OSX versions, and to install onto other hardware (probably other workstations) in the future - just wanted to start with least trouble.

Hello NewAtThis!

If you're using wired Ethernet, you don't have to worry about not having a network connection. However, if during the installation process you need to connect to an Apple server for downloads or authentication, a stable internet connection is essential.
