mrbonkers
i think there is a problem. when i restarted utorrent and did a hash check, the download went from 17.0% to 41.9%. and at downloaded bar, the back is downloaded. i find this werid. does it mean that when i burn it, it would be corrupted or should i just ignore it?? Rammjet
I don't think so. That part of the iso is unused and is blank. Because of that, the download can be instantaneous. If the iso were zipped, that section wouldn't even be there until expanded. Rammjet
i'm downloading - jas 10.4.8 re seed sse3 intel only The DVD runs on an early Semthex/Rufus kernel. It does not have VMWare support. The DVD also has the Mifki kernel to run on if you specify it at boot. It installs whichever of those you select during installation. After installation, update the kernel to the latest stable version - see the 10.4.8 link in my signature for ways to update. The Kiko Combo update uses the old kernel. mrbonkers
btw. what does the kernel help in? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36010-torrent-problem-other-questions/#findComment-256247 Share on other sites
Rammjet
The kernel is the primitive brain of the operating system. All versions of OSX on Hackintosh from 10.4.4 to 10.4.7 and even an early version of 10.4.8 had to use the old 8.4.1 kernel hacked from 10.4.4. It was only recently that the kernel 8.8.1 from 10.4.8 was hacked. The DVD you are downloading is a fresh install of 10.4.8 with the new kernel and new 10.4.8 drivers that work with the new kernel. The Kiko update is used to update 10.4.5 - 10.4.7 to 10.4.8 but with the old kernel and older drivers that work well with the old kernel. If it works for you, you really want the DVD and then to update the early version of the 8.8.1 kernel to the latest version of 8.8.1 kernel.
