I had a similar experience. Even though the apple site says that the latest firmware is needed and is supposed to be MBP12.0061.B03 for the 17", when I tried to run the update it told me it wasn't needed. The firmware that is in there now is MBP21.00A5.B01. I can't tell from the build numbers what is right. Do I go ahead and force the firmware upgrade (if I can)?

*update* Decide to try and do the upgrade anyway and it won't let me

Thanks,

Bubby

I don't have the same firmware numbers as those listed on that link, but when I try to run the latest update it says that I have the latest firmware - not from apple update, but from trying to run the firmware update itself.

My issue appears to be with the drivers installed by the drivers disk afterwards. THe XP install itself goes well enough, but the reboot after the drivers are installed is what causes my problem I think
