Installation worked, OS detected, Darwin loads, but it doesn't start up

Okay, the next problem:

Now the installation with VMWare worked, and OS Selector detects the new OS. I can select it and Darwin starts. Then that grey apple logo appears and nothing happens. Remember - I had the same problem with the setup so I tried it with VMWare but now I want to boot it without VMWare.

 

Is there any chance to get that working?

What does it say when you boot in verbose mode (F8 then -v)?

 

What packages did you install in Customize during Installation?

I installed Combo-Package and SSE2 (I think they're the right ones) for:

 

PIV Willamette (1.7Ghz, SSE2)

1024MB SDRAM

Nvidia GeForce 2 - 64MB

 

I'll now try that with verbose mode.

I wanted to start in verbose mode but there is no chance pressing F8. After selecting the OS I immediately get "Loading Darwin..." (or something like that)

 

When do I have to press F8?

Press and hold the F8 key just a second before selecting OSX to boot.

I've just tried this.

I selected OS X in Acronis Disk Selector, pressed F8 and hit enter to start it while F8 was still pressed.

But nothing happened.

Positiion your mouse cursor over the icon in Acronis.

 

Press and hold the F8 key.

 

Immediately double-click the Acronis icon

 

When you see the command prompt, release the F8 key.

Hmm, it's the same error I got when I tried to boot from the install CD:

using 2621 buffer headers and 2621 cluster IO buffer headers
