neptyr
Hi Kind of new to this forum, but i have to start somewhere The thing is, got hold of a 10.4.3 DVD, installed it just to test, then i decided i wanted a newer version before i started fixing drivers and stuff like that But i can't get the 10.4.8 iso to install, when it starts loading, it hangs at a certain point: IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:87 And when i add the ' mach_kernel -v cpus=1 ' , it gets a little longer, but stops at: Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Sat Oct 28 02:31:12 CDT 2006: root:xnu-792.13.8/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 Also tried the same options with the mifki option. My hardware: Acer TravelMate 8204 T2500 CPU x1600 mobility 2gb memory Don't remember the rest, if needed, i wil find out. Hope anyone got a solution for me, would love to get OSX up and running Regards Rolf Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35143-osx86-jas-1048-installproblems/ Share on other sites
orthorim
please let me know when/if you get OS X to install on the TM8204. I have one and would love to get OS X running on it. I was going to switch to Vista but have been turned off by it, now I am saving for a Mac and would kind of like to get a head start by running OS X. porka
I too have the same problem. I have also been trying the latest uphuck 10.4.9 release and it does exactly the same. I have tried platform=x86pc but it doesnt help either. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be ? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35143-osx86-jas-1048-installproblems/#findComment-399951 Share on other sites
mourngrym1969
OK. I just got 10.4.9 Uphuck running on my Toshiba (below). I will tell you laptop installs are finicky, so please do the following to request help and I (and the rest of the forum) will do our best to assist: Post your exact configuration (Make and Model, CPU, Memory, Video Chipset, Sound Chipset, Ethernet/Wireless Chipset, HD Size, whether this is single boot or multiple OS booting). While you are at it, I would recommend looking at the OSX86Project.org site and looking at component compatibility with 10.4.8 (go here http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.8) since 10.4.9 has not received an update for components yet. In addition, if your components/chipsets are not listed there, I would recommend booting your machine to Windows and going to the System in Control Panel. Bring up your hardware list and for each of the devices. Double Click to bring up the properties for each device. You will have some tabs at the top, go to 'Details'. From the drop down menu, choose 'Hardware IDs'. Write, print, take a screen shot of that because if you post here that 'such and such device isn't working' one of the things you will inevitably need is that vendor and device ID along with the memory ranges it uses. Once you have all that information, make sure you start with the 10.4.9 Uphuck 1.3 DVD (especially for laptops since that has the speedstep enabling script and fixes the cooling problem on some systems) and try to install using Intel Kernel, SSE3 + speedstep and ATI 1X00 driver at a minimum and post the results. It will save you a lot of time and waiting if you start with all this. Good luck! porka
Thanks for the reply. Basically I have tried pretty much every kernel in uphucks v1.3 dvd and it just freezes on the IOAPIC line. Like I said, if i try with cpus=1 then it gets to the Darwin Kernel Version line and freezes there. The Laptop is an Acer TravelMate 8204WLMi, 2.0Ghz Core Duo CPU, 2GB RAM, 160GB ICH7 SATA HDD, X1600 Mobility GPU. Try: -v -x (safe mode) - if that works, try -v cpus=1 noapic - if that works, boot, get to a command prompt and go to the system/library/extensions folder and remove IOAPIC.kext (can't remember exact name) and remove cache files (.mkext and .kextcache from system/library/extensions) then kextcache -k on system/library/extensions and reboot to see if that works. If not, post back and we can start going deeper. roli
I have the same problem but on normal PC. I posted that in another topic (older) but no one replyed. But I know where the problem is! Problem is in graphic card. Because my ATI can't handle VESA mode very well. Most linux live distributions never start. They just hang at some place. And with OSX is the same. In linux distributions it helps if I enable video safe mode. Or just change resolution to anything othe than normal VESA. I can use 640x480, 800x600..... anything just not vesa. My configuration: AMD athlon 64 3500+ AM2 MSI K9N NEO-F motherboard Sapphire ATI Radeon x800GTO Fireblade edition (for overlocking - I never overlocked it) 1GB DDR2 RAM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35143-osx86-jas-1048-installproblems/#findComment-400731 Share on other sites
