Dave In Naples
Hi, I am a Noob here so please be "gentle". I have a problem running python3 to use ProperTree. I have looked all over the web and I couldn't find an answer so I am posting here in desperation! I can understand if you feel that this is not an appropriate place for it, but I am desperate. This is probably some really basic mistake but I get the following error when I run: dave@davesHP-15::~/Downloads/ProperTree-master$python3 ProperTree.command" python returns: File "ProperTree.command", line 9 NL=$'\n' ^ I have looked over at the git hub site and "no joy", I have downloaded all the files twice. I had it working once and I didn't change anything in the script file. So I am really baffled I admit I am just starting out with python so if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance, Dave Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/350777-noob-here-with-a-question-on-propertreecommand/ Share on other sites

etorix
A bug report is in order… However, I've successfully build ProperTree as a stand-alone application with the buildapp script, and the application works as expected. 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/350777-noob-here-with-a-question-on-propertreecommand/#findComment-2776687 Share on other sites

miliuco
@Dave In Naples Although it's interesting the advice to go to OCAT, it isn't the answer you are expecting. ProperTree.command is intended to be run as command line in Terminal, you don't need python3 prefix, double click on ProperTree.command is all you need. Also, you can build a macOS app (as @etorix says) running buildapp-select.command located in Scripts folder, in this way the app is created in the ProperTree-master folder.
