Just change it to AF no matter what it is called. Some utilities call it ShagOS, others call it Unknown. I wasn't telling you to look for Mac or HFS+, I was explaining why you want it set to AF, because it is supposed to be AF in order to tell OSX what it is.

But if doing that makes it Hidden, that is not good and I would think that not having it Hidden is more important than having it set to AF.

So, again. Set to AF. If it becomes Hidden as a result, set it to Unhidden and then try the installer again.

Yeminio, PartitionManager 8 sucks.

Try using diskpart to convert, do the same thing and use (set id=af) and then select the partition and type (active). You should have no problems :construction:

The partition becomes hidden because PM8 cant read HFS+

Yeminio,

if i understood it correctly, you are trying to install OS X with the OS X boot DVD but

the installer can't find your partition?

If you can answer this with a yes, do the following:

Boot up with the DVD, and after selecting your language from the installer, have a

look at the menuebar at the top of the installer windows. Select the Diskutility from

the Tools menue, and then just pick up the partition and format it with the apple file

system, aka HFS+ (journaled).

If there is no partition available that you can select within the Diskutility from the

Tools menue of the menubar in the OSX install DVD setup process, then do the

following:

Get yourself a bootable Partition-Tool CD and make sure that it boots up like it should

before you change anything. After that, set the partition where you want to install

OSX to, to active and visible. You can do this from windows.

Boot up again and follow the DVD step from the above again. After OSX is finished,

you should be able to boot into OSX. To be able to boot up in windows again, insert

the Partition-Tool CD and set the Windows partition back to active.

After that, search the forum for the chain0 method, place the file in the windows

XP rootfolder and add the OSX entry in your boot.ini.

Wow.

Looks faster to try with diskpart, but it shows a black window style dos mm...

well Xtraa, thanks for all that answer :construction: I will be trying it. But are some words that I don't understand xD

I'll go to the shower and try...

but as Rammjet said, the partition is not recognized. Maybe it is because of what you told me, but I have seen that people has nfts partitions. And the first part of the partition (windows xp) is NFTS so why the other is not showing if it is the same ?

Aum. I don't know how to execute diskpart xD

aaand...

That is basically my prob :D

Just thought of the obvious answer. We never asked what motherboard is being used. We do know it is Athlon processor.

Are you using a motherboard with nForce chipset? Are you using SATA hard drives?

OSX doesn't support nForce4 and nForce 5xx SATA hard drives because it doesn't have a reliable driver for nForce4 SATA chipsets.

Get a PATA hard drive for OSX.
