Avija
hi After a research I have quickly found that osx86 project is the place to see compatible parts for building a hackintosh. As a long time mac user, I find that the cost of the new map pro with its base configs are a joke. When I try to view the compatible parts on osx86 I see all the slots (cpu, motherboards, etc...) empty. When trying to sign up thinking that might be the answer - it says to put the two words in the box below. But there is no CAPTCHA, no words and no box, so I cannot sign up. Anyway, I’d like to know how to view the compatible parts. Thanks Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/339645-viewing-the-compatible-parts/ Share on other sites
Guest ricoc90
It seems to me that there is no data because nobody added his working configuration to the database. Avija
Realy, In any of the os versions? If So, it means that there’s no list of any compatible parts on this whole community, which is the first and biggest... How does everyone build their hackintoshes? There must be some kind of a part list, and I’ve unfortunately only found the tony86 buyer’s guide, which is only linking to a few specific vendors and brands.... ggzz
Generally, we choose parts similar to those actually in the Mac. We check drivers and compatibility based on what's supported in Open Source projects and what is supported natively in MacOS. At least this is what I do. I wouldn't mind adding parts to that wiki page.. if I knew how.. 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/339645-viewing-the-compatible-parts/#findComment-2682666 Share on other sites

I only get a list of components for Sierra and lower. High sierra and above give me empty results too so that's why it seems to me that there just hasn't been added new data in a in a while. I might be wrong though 17 minutes ago, ggzz said: I wouldn't mind adding parts to that wiki page.. if I knew how.. When logged in you need to edit the wiki, as described here: Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/339645-viewing-the-compatible-parts/#findComment-2682667 Share on other sites

I wouldn't mind adding parts to that wiki page.. if I knew how.. there are several people like tony86 and youtube's morgonaut that recommend part that apple doesn't use like asus and gigabyte motherboards. how did they figure out that these do actually work? So, from what you say I understand I should to to everymac.com or mactracker.ca and choose only the parts there are there already, am I right? Through the years lots of components have been tested. For the most part it just has been a matter of trial and error. For a motherboard you'll need to consider its chipset, onboard audio, onboard NIC et cetera. If you're not sure the best way to find out if the component you're looking at is compatible with macOS is by just putting up a google search on it.
