when i load OSX without any options.. it boots fine.. but it is slow.. so i tried the platform=x86pc option.. and when the apple logo is up and loading.. after a whole a circle with aline through it comes up..

so with -v platform=x86pc.. it shows this after a while

Still waiting for root device

Still waiting for root device

Still waiting for root device

Still waiting for root device

i have my osx drive in a 5 1/4" swappable bay.. so it has its own hdd led..

when booting without any options, both the bays and cases led are on at the same time

when booting with the x86pc option.. the bays led never turns on, but the cases remains solid..

i have also put a maxtor ata133 pci controller i had laying around in and run the hdd off of that, and it does the same thing

i am running a DFI Lanparty Nforce3 250Gb motherboard...

Whats up sniperkilla i'm pretty sure i've run across you in some console irc channels (I'm fraeone there)

I have a very similar nf3250gb board (msi k8n neo plat) and if I use platform=x86pc it won't boot either. I have no idea why.

As for your speed issues, that's probably because you haven't deleted AppleTPMACPI.kext from /System/Library/Extensions sudo rm -rf that bad boy and restart, and it will be 100% faster.

But I think we both still would like to know why platform=x86pc doesn't let the machine boot, especially when other people report that as a solution to stability problems, etc..

actually i did delete it.. it still feels very slow and choppy.. need that x86os option to work :/

Put back the AppleTPMACPI.kext, w/o this I couldn't pass the 'Still Waiting For Root Device' message.

I have an nForce3 mobo as well. The only way I can start is with that file + platform=X86PC (and I copied all darwin Extensions over the tiger ones).
