Hi guys, I'm sorry this question might have been asked before so excuse me in advance for lack of my knowledge!

Could someone please explain me the differences between AppleHDA and VoodooHDA? After a lot of reading/research and so many tries and errors, I have finally successfully installed Sierra on my Dell 3020M, everything seems to be working just fine and I used VoodooHDA for the system sound. Although it's working, I'm not quite happy with the sound quality as it is not as good as what I have in Windows, it's a bit too low or if I try to increase the sound volume, it gets a bit noisy. My question is this that will I get better sound quality if I use AppleHDA rather than VoodooHDA?

Many thanks,

Hi

you have your question with answer

Could someone please explain me the differences between AppleHDA and VoodooHDA?

I'm not quite happy with the sound quality as it is not as good as what I have in Windows, it's a bit too low or if I try to increase the sound volume, it gets a bit noisy.

My question is this that will I get better sound quality if I use AppleHDA rather than VoodooHDA?

obviously

Great! So I'm in the right path, just need to get the AppleHDA working! Is it not better to remove the VoodooHDA first? Would deleting the ktext file from S/L/E be enough or do I need to take other steps to remove the VoodooHDA from my system? And one final last question, my sound card as mentioned above is Realtek ALC3234, any tips to complete my installation would be appreciated, I have already tried a few times and so far no luck! I don't know what in doing wrong.

removed VoodooHDA and AppleHDA Disabler from /S/L/E

download and install https://github.com/vit9696/AppleALC/releases

use Layout ID = 3, 13, 17, 28 which suites you better

Yes I dit it! :thumbsup_anim: . 1. Removed VoodooHDA and AppleHDA Disabler, 2. Used AppleHDA Patcher to extract clover config, aDummyHDA.kext, AppleHDA.kext and CodecCommander.kext and applied all. 3. Restarted and wow its working. Still I have a feeling that my internal speakers are louder in Windows but who cares. I'll probably use my BT speakers. Currently looking to buy a Broadcom BCM94352Z NGFF M.2 to replace with my exciting Intel AC8260. Althouth I'm not sure if BT speakers works with AppleHDA.

One last questin remains, and is there any differences between AppleHDA and AppleALC?

Thanks,

Althouth I'm not sure if BT speakers works with AppleHDA.

same here I'm not sure AppleHDA works for onboard connectors

AppleALC is kext like dummy but you don't need to use clover patches and don't need to install it again again when new OS update arrived ..

AppleALC works from clover kext folder
