Hello all!

I know this problem was also experienced by other users from this forum, but it's solution isn't clear, yet.

Can anyone make it clear for all the users who encountered it? How can we avoid it? using a SATA DVD drive? or a USB DVD drive? or a IDE-to-SATA converter?

Is there any other release where this error doesn't come up? I only tried JaS's 10.4.7 repacked iso, and... it's not working on my system. Do you think that OS X 10.5 (Jaguar) will solve this problem, when it will be released?

My specs are:

ASUS P5B Deluxe (ICH8, 965 chipset)

Intel Conroe E6400 o/k @ 3.2GHz

GeForce 7900 GS

Plextor DVD-RW 716A (on IDE bus, using motherboard's JMicron controller)

Thanks, any hints would be greatly appreciated (without MacOS X86 I feel like something big is missing ;) )

Regards!

I believe the IDE chipset in many of the new Conroe motherboards is not supported by OSX. The workaround seems to be to get a SATA DVD drive, or put an IDE-SATA converter on the IDE DVD drive, or install to a partition using VMWare from Windows.

Thank you for your reply, Rammjet :)

Do you know where can I find a tutorial for installing using VMWare?

Thanks, again...
