widowmaker007
Got an older setup that I'm trying to install El Capitan on. It runs Mavericks just fine - never bothered to update to Yosemite, but thought I'd give El Capitan a try. The machine is an Intel Dx58SO with an intel i7-960. Running a Radeon 6870 with 1GB of memory. 12GB of system RAM. After updating the bios, I finally got the USB to boot properly. When I boot to the USB, I get clover and my only option is the USB Installation. Post installation, it boots to Clover, and my options now are the USB installer and "Boot recovery from recovery HD". No boot to the OS. If I plug in my old Mavericks drive (so both drives are in the machine), and boot into Mavericks, I can see the El Capitan installation on that drive. It appears to be complete. Just not sure how to get Clover to see it so I can boot to it. Any suggestions? kishine
create a 3rd patition, say Data volume. In the Clover installation, select Data Volume as your Clover destination; install Clover as EUFI - it will then install Clover into the EFI Volume. For proper booting, follow the Clover post-install guide. btw, although you installed Clover as EUFI, you must boot into Clover as legacy, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/310194-el-capitan-installs-but-wont-boot/#findComment-2202925 Share on other sites
user01100
If you made an usb stick with El Capitan and booted and installed from it to your hard drive, don't forget that you need to boot from it twice so that the installation completes.
