If the card you're referring to is a PCI card, neither Apple nor Echo has an incentive to write an Intel driver for it, since no Intel Mac has PCI slots. I've got the same situation with a M-Audio Revolution, and it's a bummer. You can download Generic driver source of echo card on echoaudio website for developpers, maybe one day one guy will work on it...
