Straterra
I am about to download Kiko's release of 10.4.8 combo w/ SSE3 and I had a couple questions. It has been a long while since I have installed OSX on my laptop. I used to have to install a different kext for my ATI IXP chipset. Do I still have to apply this 'patch' to this install CD in order to boot? Also, I notice it says GMA..this will still work with my ATI chipset video card, right? And finally, the comment says "For Intel only!" My CPU has SSE3 support (Turion ML-32), so it should run this release as well, correct? Rammjet
I used to have to install a different kext for my ATI IXP chipset. I notice it says GMA..this will still work with my ATI chipset video card, right? GMA900 is an option in the Customize window. You do not need to install it. the comment says "For Intel only!" Straterra
I understand that a Turion is an AMD processor. I have installed OSX on this laptop before but what I am wanting to know is what EXACTLY makes it Intel only? It used to be because the AMD's didn't have SSE2/3 support, but now they do. As for letting me know that its not a disk image, thanks..Guess I'll have to nab a friend with a demonoid account to find a disk image. Rammjet
There are no 10.4.8 install DVD's yet. Only updaters. To get 10.4.8, you would need to install an earlier version of OSX and then update it. There are currently (3) 10.4.8 updaters that have been prepared for an AMD processor: "10.4.8 AMD UPDATE" on Pirate Bay "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.SSE2.Only.Combo.Update" on Demonoid "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.SSE3.Only.Combo.Update" on Demonoid Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30584-kiko-1048-combo-sse3/#findComment-211975 Share on other sites
