fusiondevil Posted February 27, 2015 Share Posted February 27, 2015 I've just started to read documents about Hackintosh just for the sake of studying, especially about the use of Clover bootloader. And I have a question regarding dual booting MAC OS X and Windows 7 (64-bit but still MBR). Here's the situation: Let say I have a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit installed and I boot it using BIOS. Now I install OS X 10.10 with (of course) UEFI boot mode using Clover bootloader. Here are my questions: 1. Theoriotically, Clover is now taking control of booting so it can boot up OS X in UEFI mode. But will Clover detect my MBR partition that has the priorly installed Windows 7? 2. And if not, can I still keep my pre-installed Windows 7 and dual-boot Windows 7 (Legacy mode in MBR partion) along with OS X (UEFI in GPT partition). And how? (maybe by repairing bootmgr, or somehow enable Clover to detect it) I know I can just re-install Windows 7 with UEFI boot, that will make my life much easier, but this is just out of my curiosity and I don't have enough time/resource for actual testing. So your answer and guidance will be much appreciated. Thank you! Zenith432 Posted February 27, 2015 Share Posted February 27, 2015 You can set it up one of several ways legacy Clover with BiosBlockIo (boot7), Windows 7 legacy PBR, OS X. legacy Clover with EFI drivers (boot6), Windows 7 legacy PBR, OS X - may give problems due to transition EFI drivers -> legacy PBR, but I've had this work in the past (don't use it anymore.) Either of the above but with Windows 7 UEFI boot - this is what I use today. Both boot6 and boot7 work. Clover with Native UEFI firmware, Windows 7 legacy boot, OS X - this may or may not work, depending on your native UEFI CSM and ability to support legacy boot.
