Installing Mac OSX using VMWare (My Way)

DISCLAIMER

This is a step-by-step guide for installing JaS 10.4.7 into a system similar to mine. I've had problem with this and i managed to solve it and i would like to share it. I never tested it with any different machine or whatsoever so please proceed with caution.

(hang in the middle of installation or boot is normal. try again. dont give up)

Software Needed :

● Alcohol 120%

● VMWare Server 1.01

● OSx86 10.4.7 Jas ISO Repack

PC Spec :

Pentium D 820 3.0 GHz

Intel D975XBk M/B

1 GB (512 x 2) Value Corsair DDR2 667

GeForce 6600

VMWare Setting

● Memory : 512MB

● HDD (IDE 0:0) : Independent-persistent

● CD ROM (IDE 0:1) Using drive of my Alcohol. (I don't know how to describe this better.)

● Floppy disabled

● Ethernet : Bridged (or Nat)

● Processors : 2 (if failed, change to 1)

1. ) Download OSX, VMWare, and Alcohol 120%

2. ) Open VMWare. Create a new Virtual Machine. Select Typical. Select Other > FreeBSD as Guest Operating System. Configure the setting afterwards as you like. Allocate at least 10GB for OSX. It can be modified later, anyway.

3. )Close VMWare. Edit the .vmx file using any text editor. Find

guestos= "FreeBSD" and change to guestos= "winNT"

4. ) Add paevm= "TRUE" to any line.

5. ) Load the ISO using Alcohol, Open VMWare and load your FreeBSD. Run it.

6. ) Get into the BIOS setting. Disable the serial, parallel, and diskette. (in Advanced > IO Device Configuration >)

7.) Exit Saving Changes. Press F8 upon booting and type -v -x platform=X86PC

8. ) There you go. Proceed with the installation. Google them.

(written : 16/10/2006) i will, however, experiment with a native install right after i am done with my work here.
