on my installation dvd there was a package called "Wireless.pkg" that i ran to get my wireless to show up as an airport card... will that work for him?

That package only adds some device ids to the existing Broadcom driver.

There is NO driver for Intel 2200 or Intel 3945 wireless for OSX.

OSX has drivers for Broadcom and Atheros. Ralink has a driver. Zydas (now part of Atheros) has a USB wireless driver. And somone here on the board created a Prism GT driver. That is all of the wireless drivers for OSX.
