NoDigital
I've noticed that there's a lot of information in some very long threads pertaining to configuring and installing for motherboards. Has anyone thought about creating a wiki page per m/b to permanently capture this information? An example is the Asrock Conroe-DVI. A great board that needs a bit of configuration to make it almost 100% working. A page should be created in the wiki and linked from the HCL. That way, discussion can happen on the forums and the very valuable information and lessons learnt can be condensed into a guide for others. Anyone any thoughts on this? The Baron
I think that's a pretty good idea. The wiki is looking a bit tired at the mo and doesn't really cater for people wanting to build a rig from scratch - just because you find a 100% MB, a 100% GFX, 100% Proc it doesn't follow that they will be perfect together, so how about a page per M/B where users could post their setup & success with that particular board. NoDigital
This is the problem I came across: The wiki HCL only gives an indication of compatibility, not necessarily the steps needed to get a working m/b or peripheral. You can see from the number of postings that there's a lot of information that is transitory in threads which needs to be more permanent on the wiki. For me, trying to figure out what board to buy and the chance of sucess meant trawling through hundreds of postings to see whether a given board would work and what's needed. Now I've decided on a Asrock Conroe-DVI I need to trawl back through those postings to figure out the steps to ensure the audio, video and lan works. This should really be on a page with notes for each sub-component that needs tweaking. Links from the page can help to find drivers and further information. Hopefully, once a few examples are up, others will update the other listed boards and peripherals.
