Hi guys,

I have a crazy problem here. My laptop heats up like hell. I have tested it twice. When I run OS X, Windows XP and Fedora for an hour each, I have observed that the system heats up a lot with OS X. Its so hot at he back (battery) that I can't even touch it. Nothing happens when running Windows or Fedora. Also, I just tested it by browsing the net on the three platforms. Can you tell me why is that happening with OS X.

OSX can't read the sensors in your non-Apple laptop, so it can't implement any power management. All of that is left to the BIOS and if it isn't sophisticated enough to manage power/temperatures, things will get hot and your battery will drain power quickly.

Try playing with the Energy Saver system preference.
