Alright. I will first say that I have only been into this for the past 3 or so days. But I have a good amount of computer knowledge backing me up. But I need some help.

Everytime that I go to install ISO by Jas (10.4.7). I end up getting a bios message saying "Ebios Read Error" and then under that, it says "Block 25304..Sectors 64".

I don't know what it is meaning.

I have:

P4 3.6 GhZ HT Processor.

Asus P5P800 MoBo

2 gb of Ram

4.7 TB of HD (yes. TB)

And I have the partitions and everything set up.

At the moment - I am following the guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11339

I am up to the Mac Installation and cannot get the disc to boot. Is it my disk, possibly? Or is there some hardware stuff that I am going to have to mess with?

I highly doubt that it is some hardware problems, as in not being capable of it, because I am seeing people with far less powerful computers on here being able to do it.

Thanks

If you can't boot the disk, try a native install on hdd via vmware, worked for me fine :-) You fidn a guide at the Genius Bar in this Forum.

A notice to the quide, I could not Install OSx correctly with this Independent/Presistent Option activated. I still run fine without it. If activated the install just left "messed up {censored}" on my af partition *lol*

Hmm, how is your machine set up? To install to an native partition?

I did the following (but be careful with what you do!!!!)

New -> Other/Other -> ... -> Pro Isntall On Disk thing -> WHOLE DISK (select disk with windows and free Partition for OSX) -> boot

It works but it's not fool proof, don't mess around with the disk util after boot ;-)

I installed from a DVD in my DVD Drive exclusivly connected to the VM.

Works fine for me, even if I can't get the box to boot with DVD in drive without errors nativly.

Be sure to add the partition used for your OSX Install before you start the install, using cmd -> diskpart.

The good thing about this setup is you can boot your OSX from your Windows via VM any time you want to check something and don't want to reboot later on or just use OSx native.

Also a good suggestion for later on is this MacDrive Util for Windows. You can even put files to your VM esaily.

It's a sick setup but works like a charme :-D

Quick Question. How long should I be stuck at the Apple Logo boot screen for? Prior to installation.

I've been there for about an hour or so.

About 15 hours....no, really, 10 minutes would be a long time.

When you boot and it asks you to hit Enter or F8, hit F8 and type -v. This will turn on verbose mode and display messages during boot. This will tell you what the problem is or at least what command it is stuck on.

SATA hard drive has nothing to do with the installation at the point of booting the DVD. That would come later.

The SAM Multimedia error means the system is having trouble reading data from the DVD. This could be the fault of the DVD or the optical drive.

Reburn the DVD at the slowest speed possible. Also if possible, use a different brand of media or a different type of media (dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-rw, dvd+rw).

If that doesn't work, then see if you can update the firmware of your optical drive.
