When ever I try to transfer large amounts of data from one source to another. My Mac always seems to fail some where down the line and gives up on the transfer. (and this really sucks when your waiting 9+ hours and then the last hour it fails). Is there some type of utility that can transfer large amounts of data to another volume and it does not give up even if it meets an error? I know I can do this on windows with a tool from "geek squads mri f-mod" on windows. But since I am working with a "mac true crypt only volume" I cannot use my windows comp. for this transfer. Is there a way to make transfers of large data from one volume to another and still do it even with errors? Because everytime my mac meets and error in a transfer it gives up and does not continue. Is there an app for this or a way to fix this problem in mac? Thanks alot if you can solve this for me. shockwave47 Posted August 16, 2012 Author Share Posted August 16, 2012 Im guessing your saying to do the transfer on windows and use the NTFS driver for mac to use it as well. I would rather not use this solution so I do not have to re-encrypt my 1 tb drive and would love to find a mac only solution. There must be a way on mac to transfer large amounts of data to another volume....... ignoring errors so it does not give up transferring a 800gb file(s) half way through when it encounters a weird file. Also this is not a FAT32 problem... both drives are formatted Mac Os Extended. Also both drives do not have any permission errors which can be fixed with "repair disk". EDIT: I think I found a solution. I am currently usuing terminal "ditto" command to copy the files. Ill be back in several hours to tell you guys if it works or not. Ditto should continue copying even if it reaches a file it does not like right? Trying to figure out all the bad files in a sea of 800gb would be very scary.
