sarim khan Posted May 31, 2012 Share Posted May 31, 2012 Hello, Described in title, when booting with -v, after loading kexts, it shows something like amd gpu detected, reading from vbios. Then nothing happens, it stuck on that screen. Does lion support amd hd 7xxx series graphics cards ? if not, is there any third party kext available ? If lion doesn't support it, does mountain lion supports it ? Anyone succeeded to run amd hd 7xxx series card in lion ? TH3L4UGH1NGM4N Posted June 1, 2012 Share Posted June 1, 2012 Only thing that's been close to the 7xxx series working is that it's been claimed to have been tested in a Mac Pro but I haven't found any dev ven IDs matching any 7xxx cards in any of the ati controller kexts. If an ATI7000Controller shows up in ML then I'd have a reason to believe that it's in the works but as it is right now thigns are pretty mum. Should know for certain when the GM for ML drops if they'll be supported (at least in the next up coming line of Mac comps). TH3L4UGH1NGM4N Posted June 19, 2012 Share Posted June 19, 2012 Honestly man I'm beginning to doubt it because traces of it aren't really showing up more as we go through the DPs which leads me to believe that Apple is gonna side with the Green Girls again this time around in the iMac lineup. Doesn't mean there isn't the slightest possibility the 7xxx might get supported in the future but I doubt it seeing as how the gtx 6xx is selling like hot bread as opposed to the amd 7xxx cards.
