rdfrahm
Since upgrading from 10.6.6 to 10.6.7 on my Acer Aspire One yesterday I can no longer connect to my network shares via smb. I can see the server in the pane on the left side of Finder, but clicking on it does nothing. Clicking on 'Connect as' does nothing as well. When I try using 'Connect to server' it opens a dialog saying it's 'Connecting to server' but never succeeds and never prompts for user id and password. Also, when I scan for open ports 139 is not open. I did this same upgrade in VirtualBox on a Linux machine and it went fine and works great. Ports 139, 445 and 548 are all open on that machine but none are open on the Acer. I can run smbclient -L on a remote server and it sees all the shares on it. I've done a lot of searching and found a lot of people with smb problems in 10.6.7 but so far have been unable to get this working. Any suggestions? rdfrahm
Finally! I did more searching and came across this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2791005?start=0&tstart=0 It suggests doing 'repair disk' from disk utility. I didn't do that but I did do 'repair permissions', rebooted, and success!
