Hello, it´s my first post, and I´m very happy to be a member of such great community.

The problem is the following:

I´m looking for help about how to install MacOS X on such an old computer like this. I´m trying to install it on my old 2004 VAIO PCG-K15F. It already has Windows 98, 2000, XP(native) installed, and I can´t erase them, since it´s for an IT homework I have.

I´ve tried all methods for most laptops and this one refuses to work well. One of the main problems is it´s age. Compared to today´s laptops, this one´s very primitive.

It´s got the following hardware:

Motherboard: A

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (Northwood 478mPGA) @ 2790 Mhz. MMX, SSE and SSE2 instructions supported.

RAM: 1 GB DDR PC166 (32 MB shared with GFX card)

HDD: 250 GB IDE Seagate Blue Scorpio.

GFX card: ATi Radeon IGP 345M (32 MB from RAM)

Sound: Realtek AC97

Ethernet card: Realtek RTL 8139

WLAN card: LAN-Express AS IEEE 802.11g

I have tried with a retail MAC OS X 10.6.3 disc and also with a SSE2 adapted 10.5.2.

The first one refuses to boot, even with some popular boot discs, and the 2nd one boots at some success degree. After it boots and starts the setup process ,suddenly it stops and reboots immediately, with no previous warnings.

Please I need help in this problem, since my school grades are in risk. Any help is appreciated...

Try the 10.6.3 disc with the OSx86 ModCD. I wrote a guide for it (with a download link) here.

I have successfully used this on a Pentium 4 and a Pentium D machine. It works great! PM me if you have trouble.
