sdelano
Okay, so I downloaded the JaS 10.4.7 DVD and tried installing it with VMWare but that wasn't working at all. So I figured I would judt install it on a free partition by booting off the DVD. That worked great except for one thing. I didn't edit any boot settings anywhere or setup a dual boot setup at all. Now when I reboot the computer, nothing will boot. The only thing I can do is boot with the OSX DVD, and reinstall and then it will boot into OSX only once. The first time I installed OSX I had access to my windows root hard drive, the second time I had access to my other hard drive. Only one at a time though...never both. I have them both set up on SATA. The OSX partition is on the same hard drive as the XP partition as well. Is there anything I can do from here to make the computer dual boot? Rammjet
Set your OSX partition "active" (bootable): http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=22844 Setting the timeout parameter will force the Darwin (OSX) bootloader to appear. Boot into OSX. Edit the boot.plist file at "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist" and add the following: <key>Timeout</key> <string>10</string> You can edit the file by dragging it to the Desktop and editing it with TextEdit, then dragging it back, answering the 2 resulting dialogs - Authenticate and yes to replace, then followed by using Disk Utility to repair permissions on the OSX partition. Or you can do it via Terminal with this command: sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27030-did-not-set-up-doal-boot-before-installingoops/#findComment-183826 Share on other sites
sdelano
So setting the partition to active didn't work. But if I stick the install dvd and don't press anything then I can boot to osx just fine. I dont know what the deal is with the HDD's either because last time I booted, they all showed up and now only 2 of the 3 show up...the Windows partition in missing.. grr Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27030-did-not-set-up-doal-boot-before-installingoops/#findComment-183882 Share on other sites
