lighting.concept
Okay, here is my problem but, I will first start with what OS and hardware I am currently attempting this on. BTW/ I am a new user but I have used this site for quite a while and BIG props to the developers and everyone contributing to the cause. I love this site and all the good I have gotten from it!!!! Mother board= GA-G41M-ES2L not completely sure what version my BIOS is currently Intel core2 quad clocked down @ 2ghz but is a 2.6/ can add which one exactly if needed just not sure off the top of my head. RAM is 2g ddr2 and will be adding more soon/ took my other card for another build for a family member HD is 640g WD w 64mb cache GPU is invidia xfx 6800> old i know.. but reliable little bugger! OS is LEO 10.5.6 installed from Xxx_x86_10.5.6_install_disc_universal_final.dmg > This has always worked great on my set up and has not had a single hiccup for 3yrs of use. So, getting to the fun part of this post. I am trying to create a boot disk out of my 8gig PNY USB flash drive following MaLd0n's instructions for Lion 7.0 shown on this link http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=256729. I am using this DMG " mac os x 10.7 dp 2.dmg" Following his instructions are simple (Thanks much to MALd0n ) However when i get to the point of making my packages folder on my newly restored flash drive that is now " mac osx base system" I began by first trying to put all the packages in at once and it would fail almost every time. So I then began placing each of the 44 packages in individually and came to find that the " Essentials.pkg" would get to, depending on an unknown issue, either 30mb to 1.0g and then all of the sudden I get an error pop up stating that I don't have permission to do what I am trying to do and then the usb drive ejects itself and is no longer visible in Disk Utility. I can then unplug it and plug it back in and it needs reformatted because it is completely wiped. Help me please because I am about to go crazy after attempting this so many times and i haven't even gotten to what I would consider to be a tough part of getting this to work. I am no where near where I want to be on getting this situation resolved and am running out of ideas. I feel like it has to be a simple remedy or there has to be a better way to just do a clean install without all of this BS that is standing in my way. Any responses would be useful at this point in time. I am currently trying to do this all as I post. I feel discouraged that nobody has a single thing to say about this or even that no one has had this issue previously. HELPme HElPme HElPme. lighting.concept
I have a theory now that I am currently trying and will update to let you all know how it goes. I do believe my thumb drive was just wasting my time considering I am really just trying to install on an already hacked OSx, but it is leo and not sno leo. I am going to do mostly what MaLd0n showed to do but I am going to try and use the current boot loaders and v of chameleon that i used in my original install. once I make the folder I am going to try and run as an update and see what happens. if no workie. I will just say f'it and attempt to use a different option all together. I am hopefull this will work however I am hopeful there is a hacked .dmg that I can simply install.
