KvL
Hi there, hello from Italy. I decided to write this because I found very specific guides for many M/B but I needed something less specific: It involves rBoot from tonymacx86.com, a USB stick, a pre-edited DSTD file and ##### 4.0.x Lion Edition. 1: Prepare a bootable 8GB USB Stick with Lion setup on it. Many guides can be found. I recommend using Carbon Copy Cloner to clone DMG to USB Stick. Disk Utility often fails! 2: Boot your Hackintosh with rBoot (I used version 1.0.0). 3: Boot the Stick and install Lion from there. 4: Run ##### with EasyDSDT or User DSDT if you have your pre-edited file. 5: Select appropriate drivers, reboot and test your new machine! I made this guide because on tonymacx86.com they don't infringe Apple SLA/EULA by making you buy or transfer a paid copy of your Lion setup then make partitions then use xMove etc etc. Boring. That's the shortest path. My config: GA-P67A-D3-B3 (less than 100€), Core i5-2500, 8 GB 1333MHz (not the top I know...), Samsung 64GB SSD 470 Series. Hope this helps K Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/268607-my-guide-to-lion-installation/ Share on other sites
KvL
I have been kindly asked to expand the guide: 1a: Open "InstallESD.dmg" (the file you find inside MAS Lion Installer) 1b: In Terminal.app type: open /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg 1c: Open Carbon Copy Cloner and clone Mac OS Base System to the 8GB Thumb drive making sure you tweak CCC to overwrite any content on destination drive. It won't be bbotable until you also copy "mach_kernel" file. 1d: Copy kernel to USB drive. cp /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/mach_kernel /Volumes/THUMB_DRIVE_NAME 1e: On the Thumb Drive delete the link to the "Packages" folder located in"System\Installation" and empty the recycle bin. 1f: Copy from "Mac OS X Install ESD" the "Packages Folder in the folder you previously deleted the link. (approx. 4GiB of data) 1g: Reboot your Mac to make sure USB Stick will boot. If it doesn't try repairing permission on USB drive. Reply here if you have any doubts!
