During the installation, when you clicked the Customize button, what packages did you select? You had to click the little arrow to reveal the individual packages. You should select Intel packages, not AMD and for your processor, select SSE3, not SSE2.

Have you installed the Macvidia driver? seeing your pic, it seems there is some problems with the NV* kexts. If you have recently installed it, the old nv* kexts have not been moved out of your extensions folder, so they enter in conflict with the Macvidia ones.

If it's not the case, it seems that your recent nvidia card is simply not recognized (family specific matching fails).

It seems that you should edit some NVDA* kexts so that the device/vendor ID match those of your card.

Or you could also install the Macvidia driver, they have made an installer which do the work for you. For that, go to http://macvidia.starchaser.com.

The link is not working and how should I install it when I can't enter Mac... it gets stuck on the last lines on that picture...

it must be .org :-s

Just for info: the first time i installed, i made a mistake: i choose the patch for SSE2 (called "sse3 to sse2..." or something like that) AND the patch for SSE3.

This have messed up my installation. In fact, i learned in this forum that, following your processor model (mine is SSE3) you have to choose one OR the other. Not both at the same time.

I only took SSE3 nothing els..

Eventually you could try to pass some options at boot. For that:

Immediatly at the begining of the boot process, hit quickly the "F8" key.

Then the Darwin boot should appear, asking for options. you could try:

-x <enter> (for booting in safe mode)

-f <enter> (sometimes this one can help for problems with graphics)

-s <enter> (this is the Single user mode=command line only)

If you succeed in enter in single user mode, then perhaps you should try to move the kexts that seems to be problematic out of the extensions folder...

The commands to type are similar to linux, but you have to enter in a mode that allows you to type commands first. Then i could indicate to you the commands if you want.

But if you feel that your install definitely don't work, try to reinstall, choosing other options/packages. Just try.

It's just my .002 cents, i'm not a specialist... Just a n00bie.

I would love that..

I'm a noob too.. :D

I'm trying to reinstall it and it seems to be installing that combo update now juss reburned it on the DVD..

For the resolution problem, you could try to edit the following file with the TextEditor:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

then add/change to read your favorite resolution, following this model:

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1280x1024x32@60</string>

Of course, you can replace "1280x..." by what you want, just be sure that your monitor support this resolution/refresh rate.

The "@60" (=60hz) is not mandatory, you can try to work without, in a first time. Just enter these two lines, if they are not already present, at the begining of the file.

You can replace "32" by "24", it's a well-known trick which can accelerate things a bit.

Then save the file, and reboot.

it's all fine I juss can't get sound on..

And I just updated it with that 10.4.7 from update program and now it's not working it juss reboot it self..

For the sound, i recommend to read the wiki, or search the forum for "ac97".

You must know that there's no driver actually for PCI soundcards :(, just for internal sound chipsets (ac97, hdaudio), USB sound cards should work without driver.

Hmm ok can you recommend an usb soundcard which is not expensive cuz my sound chipset don't work..

And what about that update problem am I not allowed to download any updates from apple..?

Do not install OS updates from Apple. Just as you installed a patched version of OSX, you must install patched OS updates as well.

It is safe to install applications (iTunes, Quicktime, etc) from Apple.
