McReid
Well, not really tricked, but here is my dilemma: I am running Lion 10.7.1 on my Hack, and, my printer is the Lexmark X1150. Now, the only driver on Lexmark's website for the X1150, is for up to OS v10.3.x only. The driver, as seen here. Notice, it is an old PowerPC HQX file, meaning you need Rosetta to install it, which, starting with Lion, Rosetta is no longer supported, or included with the OS. So, I swapped hard drives out, and put my SL drive in, booted from that, and downloaded the driver to try it. As you might imagine, all went well. So, I hopped into System Report, under Software and Applications to take a look at the Lexmark files installed by the installer to see of what, "kind" they were, to see if all the files were of the PowerPC persuasion or, hopefully not. To my surprise, as you can see in my attached image, that not only are the files of the, "Intel" kind, but they are also x64 bit. And to boot, I have no interest in printing, I seek only to use the scanning aspect of the "all in one" printer, and it worked flawlessly in SL after the installation. So, obviously, my question is, is there any way to transfer the pertinent Lexmark driver files, from my SL hard drive, into Lion, and have Lion accept, or load the files, being that there is no way that I will be able to legitimately load the drivers in Lion without Rosetta? Thanks for your help. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/267782-can-lion-be-tricked-into-using-drivers/ Share on other sites
