Hello,

The first time I booted after installing Mac OS X Tiger onto my Intel PC everything seemed fine, except for some 'wavering' (?) (regular delays). Sound, network and display worked. Then the second time I booted, it got stuck at the screen with the little spinning wheel under the Apple logo. I booted with verbose mode turned on and noticed the following message:

SAM Multimedia: read or write failed, ASC=0x29 ASQ=0x00

I've looked up the code and read this:

"POWER ON, RESET, OR BUS DEVICE RESET OCCURRED"

I also tried the option: platform=OSX86PC

When I boot into safe mode it doesn't get stuck. So maybe there's something I have to turn off, but I don't know what and how.

I see now the problem isn't the read error.

It also says "display: family specific matching fails" and:

kld_load_from_memory() failed for module /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleACPIDisplay.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleACPIDisplay

link/load error occured for kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleACPIDisplay.kext

Does anyone know how to avoid this? It does start in safe-mode.
