jstewart
I am trying to install 10.6 on my HP TC4400 tablet. I have done a lot of research in the last 2 weeks but to no avail. It is time to ask for help. I have probably tried instaling 50 different ways and had no luck. I have based most of my installations on this link here, http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...ortables#NC4400 it is for a NC4400 but it is almost the same laptop except for it is not a tablet and the video card is different it has an intel 915 and mine is a 945. The chipset is the same. So far I have tried installing with a retail version I purchased and using ##### and I have tryed iAtkos S3 V2. With the retail version I never even get to the install screen it just sticks at the apple screen. With iAtkos I make it to the install screen and after I have customized the install it sits at the 18 minutes remaining for about an hour then shoots to 11 min for about 30 more mins then it doesn't say install finished it just reboots. Then when I trys to load it just sits at the apple logo and never gets any further. I have tryed disabling the second core and running -CPUS=1 and I have tryed - legacy. If there is anyone who has the steps and options to get this running I would really appreciate it. I have read a few posts where people have successfully done it on the TC4400 but they are old posts and none have the steps to do it. Here are a few specs of the laptop Core 2 Duo T7200 4gb of ram 160gb hard drive ICH7 chipset intel 945 video broadcom LAN broadcom wireless ( I replaced the intel that came with the laptop, this one is reported to work ) Thanks again in advance. Hi, I have written the guide for the NC4400 and when I extract my DSDT, it is marked as TC4400 First of all, you will have problems with T7200 (search for XPbIM3, a great Russian guy which resolved 99% problem on TC4400 with this CPU) if you don't use the right patched DSDT. Anyway if you haven't a pathced DSDT for NC/TC4400 I think that my guide will be ok for you too. I have made the guide WITHOUT have patched DSDT!!!. VANILLA method needs at least: INSTALLATION/FIRST BOOT: - Prepare USB pen with MyHack 1.1 and OSX Retail DVD 10.6.3 - Disable Dual Core on BIOS (with CPUS=1 you will have CPU super hot!!) - arch=i386 - an /Extra/Extensions folder with at least some right kexts (NullCPUPower, EvOReboot, FakeSMC 2.5) - an /Extra with proper DSDT with HPET Fix (for Bluetooth) +DTGP+GMA945/950 laptop fix - a Broadcom BCM43xx or Atheros Wireless card (instead of original Intel) so you have a network exit - USB Mouse and Keyboard - Then after first boot you need: VoodooBattery (for Battery ICON), last VoodooPowerMini (for Speedstep), VoodooPS2Controller 0.98 (for touchpad and internal Keyboard), VoodooHDA 2.6.2 (for audio and mic) all in /S/L/E - With the right HPET FIX and Chameleon 2.0 RC5 with Pstate and Cstate enabled you could enable AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement (Vanilla) removing Disabler or NullCPUPower... So you have a NC/TC4400 working on 10.6.3. After that you have to work for DualCore and Sleep IATKOS (my guide) - I have used my guide several times without problems (remember to disable dual core on BIOS and active AHCI on sata!!!!), eventually force an arch=i386 and -v at start Anyway, now to see where it stops, start with cpus=1 arch=i386 -v and post the KP my 5 cents Patrick Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/261436-tc4400-installation/#findComment-1708504 Share on other sites
jstewart
Patrick (bautzen) Hi, Thanks for the detailed explanation on how to perform the installation. I was hoping I could ask you a few more questions. I have set up the usb drive for the installation. When I attempt to perform the installation as soon as I get to the apple logo I get the power button error I have included a picture of where it is stopping with running -v. I have also included a picture of the bios screen of where I believe I am supposed to disable the second core of the processor. Thanks again, Jeff Hi Jeff, DON'T USE ElliottForcedRTC at the beginning I had the same problem. By using MyHack 1.1 you can prepare the USB stick without ElliottForcedRTC. Select only the options I wrote above. Are u SURE about the OSX DVD image from SL? I have found several link to DVD Retail OSX 10.6.3 but they were mostly "just" patched (hazard, Iatkos ....). With the patched it's more difficult to exclude ElliottForceRTC (you have to remove from /Extra/Extensions and rebuild cache or start with -f flag. About the BIOS it seems ok. My DSDT.aml works great with dual core on NC4400 (TC4400), no one KP. But it's T5500. With T7200 I have 90% KP. To resolve, please contact XPbIM3 (also in PV) and let help from him, it's really a great guy. I know he has a TC4400 with T7200 and 2GB RAM fully working. When you will have all ready, please attach here the correct DSDT.aml pathced, smbios.plist, a ZIP of /Extra/Extensions and other Kext on /System/Library/Extensions so others could find all without our problems. Don't forget to update/create a guide for this model on osx86 database Please let me know if you will have other problems I will help you for what I know Happy setup and sorry for my poor English!!! jstewart
Patrick, So far success with your help I have been able to install and boot to 10.6.3. I was able to get the wireless working. This may be a dumb question, I am use to just having the kext available to just select as I am installing. Where can I find all the kext you have said to install. I was able to download and install the one for the wireless but as for the rest I am having no luck. Also the boot loader I did find it but I dont understand what to do with the files they are binaries and something else not just installers. Thanks again for your help, one step closer.
