alex_jr
Hello, I've been reading through the forums re: getting the mobility 5650 to work and I would like to help test it, however I seem to stumble at the first step. I'm running OSX on a Sony Vaio VPC-EB1S1E. Installed using Hazard's 10.6.6i, updated to 10.6.7. I have WiFi & Sound working. (ethernet is a Marvel Yukon 88E8059 which i can't find support for yet). Using Chameleon 2.0 RC5 Pre8 bootloader until now (Dr. Hurt Version from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...02&st=680#) I've tried using the Kabyl boot file for ATI support to start the testing/ATI support process but booting hangs after FakeSMS: key not found BEMB, length - 1 Nothing seems out of the ordinary before that. Any help would be appreciated. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/260513-help-testinggetting-to-work-mobility-5650/ Share on other sites
AcidSyl
I'm also running OSX 10.6.7 on a Vaio with a Mobility 5650 (VPC-EC3M1E). Everything's working, except for QE/CI on my internal screen and the ethernet card (same as yours, I don't think there's a working kext for it). What I did: - Booted and installed retail 10.6.3 using Nawcom's boot-CD. - Combo-updated to 10.6.7 - Installed ##### and Chameleon with ATI support using ##### - Installed MBP Spring 2011 ATI kexts - Replaced boot-file (from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=250905) for correct 5650 identification during boot - Updated Chameleon's theme.plist files to display my native resolution during boot (1600x900x32) Maybe some of these steps can help you out? When I boot with GraphicsEnabler=no, OSX boots normally using my native resolution, but without QE/CI support. When booting with GraphicsEnabler=yes AtiConfig=Eulemur -v, I get all display resolutions and full QE/CI on my external monitor (VGA) or TV (HDMI). The funny thing is, if I boot without -v (so, GraphicsEnabler=yes AtiConfig=Eulemur), my internal screen is scrambled (white lines, blurry, etc.) and my external screens are identified as extended desktops. I tried EDID injection (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=208410), but to no avail. However, if I VNC into my laptop I can see all screens detected correctly and with the right resolutions. I think my problem relates to my native res being 1600x900, which supposedly needs dual-link support. I tried to modify my DSDT to enable that (based on http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...;#entry1362685), but I can't get my DSDT to compile correctly. Anyone care to help? Would be great if we could once and for all solve the mysteries surrounding the 5650M!
