Radeon Mobility X1800 help

I looked at the wiki first, and it said that if you had an ATI Radeon X1800 that you needed to edit the ATIRadeonX1000.kext, in the following hex values: 3D C0 71 00 00. I did a search for those hex values though and I didn't find anything. I am running 10.4.7, and I installed natively from Jas' 10.4.6 DVD, along with the Radeon.Mobility patch. The problem though is that when I look at the system profiler, it doesn't accurately list my device. If I look in the Display section of the system profiler, this is what I see

 

Type: VGA-Compatible Controller

Bus: PCI

Slot: PEG Slot JGC1

VRAM: 256 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002) (this is correct)

Device ID: 0x7102 (this is my device ID)

Revision ID: 0x000

Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded

 

Then it goes into Display optons, saying that Quartz Extreme is not supported, and that Core image is not supported. So how do I get it to recognize my graphics card as an ATI Radeon X1800, and get Quartz Extreme and Core Image running?

 

One last thing. Resolution. I've been trying to increase my screen resolution by editing the com.apple.boot.plist file. I am adding the following key into the document

<string>1920x1200x32</string>

 

This graphics mode was tested and it works (I tested using -f "Graphics Mode"="1920x1200x32" and it booted perfectly). But adding this code into com.apple.boot.plist doesn't seem to get turned on. Anyone know what is up?

Okay, so I have got my Radeon Mobility X1800 to work in the About my Mac space. It still doesn't list it correctly (again, just as a VGA-Compatible Controller), but Core Image and Quartz Extreme are now supported.

 

Now... for the resolution. I still can't change through the Display options, and editing the com.apple.bot.plist still doesn't work right. I also found out that whenever I use -f "Graphics Mode"="1920x1200x32," that it is actually outputting 1600x1200 instead of the 1920x1200 that I told it do. I went into com.apple.boot.plist and edited it to say.

<string>1600x1200x32</string>

 

But still no luck, it still boots up in 1024x768. So now I have two questions; can I get widescreen? And how can I get these resolution options to 'stick'?

the installer just edits the card info to say x1800, it has no effect on performance. I was able to change resolutions after running the installer and I'm currently using 1440x900 16:10 widescreen. I only get the native 1440x900 if monitor is plugged in to the bottom port so it's detected properly.
