okay folks.. i know "this" sucks - and i don´t want to be one more whiny {censored}..

but this time i even don´t know where to start (..or what i may google for..)

first of all: thanks JaS - the 10.4.7 release is great again (i also preferred your 10.4.6)

installation was very easy - i just was wondering where the AMD SSE3 patch went :)

well.. here´s my problem:

after starting-up, the first thing i recognized was that spotlight went crazy -

without searching anything on my machine, mds had a cpu-usage at about 80-90 %.

to fix that i turned it off in /etc/hostconfig

the other problem, where i could need a little help, is.. err.. i even don´t know

what it´s called: for instance - using bbedit (or any other app) as i want to open

a document, click on "open" then the choice-window opens.. and that´s it - makes

no difference if it´s bbedit, mellel or azureus.. the app freezes (..so that i have to

kill it via activity-monitor..)

..but i don´t have a clue where to fix this.

is there anyone out there who may give me a hint?

..okay - after some reading i tried "mdutil", which should deactivate the volumes

i don´t wanna be indexed.. but: when using "mdutil -i off /Volumes/Untitled"

(for the XP HDD) [what i thought might be a problem] - mdutil answers

"Could not set indexing status for volume." why?

i also can´t change spotlight in "system preferences"

(surely i changed the /etc/hostconfig-entry again to -YES- before)

but still the same problem: after re-/booting mds goes wild..

what have i forgot?
