Shipwreck
Hi guys! I'm new to the forum, but I have a little bit of computer experience behind me. But this hackintosh business has stumped me. I have a Dell Studio One AKA Dell Studio 1909. I have never taken this computer apart, as I have recently obtained it. It has an NVidia chipset, All the drivers on Windows are practically from Nivida & Broadcom. Chipset: nVIDIA MCP7A Data bus width: 64 Bits Address Bus Width: 32 bits BIOS chip (NVRAM): 8 Mb Memory Speed: 800 MHz System Bus Frequency: Pretty sure it' 1333-MHz -------------------------------------------------------------------- Memory Type: Dual channel 800 MHz DDR2 Connectors: Two Capacities: 512 MB, 1GB, and 2 GB Minimum: 1 GB Max: 4 GB Current: 4 GB -------------------------------------------------------------------- Video: nVidia Geforce 9200 VRAM: This ones wierd. Windows says: 256 MB dedicated, 512 MB available Ubuntu says: 512 MB Mac: Not sure. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I have tried many distros, (I honestly wish I could get the latest version of Tiger, it was my fav!) But I have used Kalyway, iPC, and iAtkos v7. I have been able to get a successful installation with Kalyway and iPC, but not matter what configurations I used, I could not get QE and CI as well as sound or network, wired or wireless. I assumed iAtkos would be better, as a lot of people I've read from say it's great. Although, I can't get a successful installation with it. I selected custom drivers and etc, and tried just installing the bare essentials. Same result: When the progress bar gets to the point its under "Mac os" where it says its installing, it stalls there for about 5 minutes, and then tells me the install has failed. If there's any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I seem to have found possible solutions, but none that fits my system. BTW: It's a Intel Pentium, (Well, the sticker says Pentium) and the system info say Dual Core. 2.5 GHz. Thanks in advance, let me know if you need more info! 3.14r2
To find out what CPU is used, run CPU-Z (if you have Windows installed). Then use this application to find out more (be sure to post back results). Knowing your hardware is essential before asking to help.
