Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some help with an error that I just can't seem to find a solution to on, well, just about any forum.

My system:

Asus A8S-X motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice)

768MB RAM

My problem:

I boot my computer up with an OSx86 10.4.7 DVD, and Darwin begins to launch. After a moment, before any installation process begins, it crashes out, telling me I must reboot my machine, with an error of:

"unable to find drivers for this platform: ACPI"

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? I've attempted to turn off anything related to ACPI in my BIOS, but still no luck. Any similar stories out there?

Thanks!

I don't know what is your chipset but i think it's a chipset incompatibility.

You should try that :

when the darwin boot appear, without waiting try to hit the "F8" key, then on the Darwin prompt type : -x , and the enter key.

Eventually try : -s or both (-x -s).

If it's a graphic card problem, try (after have quickly hit the "F8" key as above) this : -f "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32"

If you have success in booting, don't forget to choose "Custom" installation, NOT "automatic" or "Default" install, and choose the patches that correspond to your processor / chipset (in your case i think it will be "AMD Decrypted", "VIA/nforce patch" and "SSE3..." DON'T choose Intel of course ! and if you choose "SSE3..." DON'T choose "SSE3 to SSE2 converter" or something like this.

Thanks for the help, VirtualGuitarist, but no luck! I thought I might transcribe all the random stuff it shows me, in case any of it is helpful. This is what came up when I tried to boot into the installation with -x -s:

Soooo...ha, does anyone have any idea if there's a glaring problem in that jargon there?

Oh, and CPU-Z says my chipset is SiS 756 Rev. 02, if that's of any help.
