the DVD is patched with SSE2 so it can be booted and the installer run from an SSE2 system. During installation, a choice is made to determine what CPU you need a kernel for. So, I suppose you could open up the DVD image, change the kernel and burn the image, but there really isnt any point.

Just a suggestion : you should try the Jas 10.4.6 or the newest Jas 10.4.7 dvd. You can have very good results too with the hotiso 10.4.6 dvd (apart the fact that you could certainly have a B0 error with this last install dvd, but follow this guide, and the problem is gone).

All of these have sse3 support included.

because the sse2 is only for installation. It's a lot of work rebuilding the DVD.

SSE3 is an option during installation. If you want SSE3, select it.

well when i go to my mac it says that my cpu does not have sse3 i tryed an older 10.4.5 dvds and still says my cpu does not support sse3 i am some what of a n00b also i am not having any errors on booting up i have it on its own HD so i mean all i do is select what boot device i want in the bios but it keeps things k.i.s.s so if i am doing something wrong let me know

see in in my old 2800+ it was very fast i mean just like waht they have at the apple store no problems but now with the 4200+ its really really slow and i have a massive problem of my mouse cutting out at times but i am hvaing that in win too so i think its a hardwear problem its a mx1000 if that helps
