baumwolle
Greetings to you all! I apologize if this has already been discussed. I have had this problem for some time and now I'm turning my eye towards online help, so please bear with me. I have successfully installed a dual-boot machine with Leopard and Windows Vista. It worked perfectly fine for a while (video, sound, networking etc.), when, all of a sudden, OSX failed to boot. I get the gray loading screen and when it should finish up loading, the screen goes black and it stays that way, no matter what I do. Any suggestions? Thank you! The hardware is Intel Dual-Core E5200, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD2600PRO. Greenmead800
No change done, nothing at all... Ok, So you have not done any software changes at all? In that case have you changed/added any hardware? (Added a new drive, or usb peripheral or even Ram?) Lastly, have you tried logging in in safe mode to see if you can get in? I would also try logging in using boot verbose (So that you can see what the computer is doing as it is loading) You might be getting some type of kernel panic and if not you can at least see what section (Textwise) the computer is freezing up on. That might help you to figure out what is causing the problem. (It definitely helped me out in a pinch) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/252809-no-more-boot-on-dual-leopardwin-vista/#findComment-1658561 Share on other sites
baumwolle
OK, I'll try that, but I don't quite know how. I'm using Darwin, the only 2 options are Vista and Leopard. Greenmead800
OK, I'll try that, but I don't quite know how. I'm using Darwin, the only 2 options are Vista and Leopard. To boot into safe mode (For mac) just type -x to log into verbose mode it is -v Just type either one of those prior to booting it up. Then select Mac (I don't exactly know the ins and outs of Darwin as I use Chameleon) but it has to have some sort of way to allow you to type that in. And remember verbose boot lets you see what it is doing as it is loading (Textwise) so you can tell us what section it is freezing up at.
