Wackintosh
Hey guys, I've researched about this problem in other posts without any solutions. I am able to run Final Cut Pro 5 without any problems. I can't get Final Cut Pro 7 to work. It hangs on the splash screen with the message "Loading FCS Engine" So I decided to look for the problem and found out that this is happening because of the FCS Engine plugin. I think its called fcsengine.bundle If I remove this plugin, the program runs without the timeline and the editing windows. The menus work and the window where it says sequence 1 shows up. Does any one know how to fix this? Maybe replacing the plugin would do the trick. If anyone has successfully installed Final Cut Pro 7, please upload the engine plugin bundle file. Do you have any music production software installed (Logic Pro, Digital Performer)? Sometimes Audio Unit plug-ins can cause a problem with FCP loading properly... Wackintosh
No, I don't have any of those. It's definitely a problem with the final cut pro FCS Engine plugin. It can be found inside the Final cut contents folder in Mac Os/Plugins folder. Final cut loads up once I delete it but won't have a timeline and an error pops up saying somethign like "not found" Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/252645-final-cut-pro-7-fcs-engine-problem/#findComment-1657715 Share on other sites

You haven't mentioned any other troubleshooting steps you've taken, so in case you haven't already done so these are the typical things to try: -Trash preferences -Repair permissions -Check all other plugin folders (NOT within the application contents) for offending plugins -Try a reinstall of FCP if necessary Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/252645-final-cut-pro-7-fcs-engine-problem/#findComment-1657758 Share on other sites
Wackintosh
The troubleshooting steps I've taken were what other posts mentioned. I deleted Qmaster, edited the network.plist. I've reinstalled the application more than 20 times. FCP 5 works but 7 hangs on that Engine plugin. I'm not sure which preferences you are talking about to trash. I've trashed the preferences.plist in system configuration as well as all the user preference files in the user/library folder. I have also repaired my permissions several times with no success. I verified them and found some problems that might be the cause. Here is the log: ========================================================== Permissions differ on "Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins/BrowserKit/iLife.bkplugin/Contents/CodeResources", should be -rw-rw-r-- , they are lrw-rw-r-- . Permissions differ on "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/BrowserKit.framework/Versions/A/CodeResources", should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r-- . Permissions differ on "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ProKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/LeopardPanels.bundle/Contents/CodeResources", should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r-- . =========================================================== I don't know what that means, I tried editing the files but I didn't find any lines with -rw-rw-r--. I'm not the most experienced with Mac, can you explain where to find the plugins folder you're referring to and what sort of files should I be looking for? Thanks. Go to your Home directory then inside it to: Library > Preferences 2. Drag com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist to the trash 3. Scroll down to the Final Cut Pro User Data folder 4. Drag Final Cut Pro 7.0 Prefs to the trash 5. Drag Final Cut Pro Obj Cache to the trash 6. Drag Final Cut Pro Prof Cache to the trash 7. Empty the trash See if there is anything in these folders: /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components Have you updated FCP to the latest version along with any other Pro Application updates? Also, please add your system specs to your signature... Wackintosh
com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist did not exist in the folder. There was something named com.apple.RegFinalCutStudio.plist which I deleted. None of the files you mentioned existed in the user data folder. /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins contained these plugins Text Scrambler.bundle Title 3D.bundle Title Crawl.bundle Vector Shape.bundle Same problem existed if removed. There were no audio plugins. I am not using any other pro apps and I did not update FCP. It is version 7.0. I really think the problem is with FCS Engine.bundle since it opens up if it's deleted. FCP 5 works without problems. It might be a bad plugin file. Wackintosh
That version of iATKOS didn't have any options to chose during installation. I just clicked next and it installed. I think v7 installed many drivers that most computers use. Not sure which kernel it is but it works on an intel processor. I will be installing 10.6.3 very soon. It might fix the issue. I would avoid any further distributions like iAtkos, go with a retail installation of Snow Leopard if at all possible. Apple's applications are very sensitive to changes in the core components of the operating system... Also make sure to do all the software updates to get FCP and Pro Application files to the latest versions.
