yyzUnderdog
I used ImgBurn and was having no success until I did at 1X speed (as suggested by Rammjet in the forum) and it worked last night. ImgBurn is free. Go get it and try it. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24996-1046/#findComment-169924 Share on other sites
Rammjet
I have 10.4.6 but it will not burn to a dvd. I've gone through 4 with no success. It always says there is a problem is a sector in the cd on alcohol and on nero the writing starts and instantly goes to closing. Im burning on an external sony burner. Any ideas? When things like this happen, you tend to want to blame the iso you are trying to burn. But the iso is just a bunch of data bits. If burning in two different programs fails, it is the burner that has a problem. I don't know how old your burner is, but I have found that after a while, the burners I have owned have a problem burning to the outer edge of the DVD and I have to keep reducing the amount of data I can put on the DVD so I stay away from that area - that is until I replace the burner. As yyzUnderdog said, burn at the slowest speed possible and try changing the brand and maybe even the type (-r, +r, -rw, +rw) of media. Rammjet
It sounds like you have burned the file "osx.iso" to the disk. An iso is a disk image. The contents of the iso need to be on the disk. If you burn it on a Mac with Disk Utility, drag the icon of the "osx.iso" to the lower left pane in Disk Utility, then go to the Images menu item and select "Burn" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24996-1046/#findComment-170188 Share on other sites

totokan
still waiting for boot device is a common problem, it seems. Search for it, I myself have no clue what it's about. EDIT: C&P from wiki FAQ Q: What are the solutions to the "Still waiting for root device" message? A: The most common solution is making your OSX drive the primary IDE. Try disconnecting all the other hard drives, make the OSX drive IDE0, using either cable-select or Master jumper settings. In my particular case, Darwin only sees the "root device" if it's in the primary IDE slot. A2: Try many boot option: platform=X86PC -v -x -v rd=disk0s* -v (replace the * with your OS X partition number) -f -v A3: Try other bootloaders: * Windows 2000/XP/2003 BOOT.INI is one of the easiest and best options. Many people use this method. * GRUB WARNING: GRUB can cause some serious damage in the MBR of your HDD. It may cause the same problem. * LILO * boot0: The FreeBSD bootloader. A3:Use IDE drives, or patch for SATA Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24996-1046/#findComment-171741 Share on other sites
