gyozadude
Can you provide more details on what kind of install? e.g. - what process? #####/Chameleon Boot CD from where? Then stock 10.6.3 snow leopard, or 10.5.x from some distro? - is there a way you can boot to the bootloader only, hit a key to freeze subsequent boot, then enter flags -v at the command line? - any errors occur? Or does the system boot okay and print out text messages on the boot to the screen, and finally when loading graphics driver, the screen turns blank again? That problem has occurred a couple of ways for me. 1) the boot loader was okay, but the boot media had the wrong set of DSDT.aml files to inject the right properties for graphics hardware. You will need to find the right one for your mobo/graphics and install it on the boot media in /Extras. 2) a driver kext for power management or system sleep may be causing the system to lock up when it loads. Whole system freezes right as screen gets blanked. 3) the mach_kernel may not work with the particular type of CPU you have in the socket. The idea of the bootloader appears to be to get the system confused about a "reference" Core 2 type processor. And some of the new ones may have different registers or support instruction sets differently and also lock up. A small hint if it's a true Kernel Panic is if you hit the power button. If the button powers off the system quick, then the kernel has panicked. If the power button has to be held down for 4 - 5 seconds, the kernel doesn't know it's wedged and and CPU is still running, but in a way that takes no kbd/mouse or video access so it's likely some bug in the kernel or related to the kernel (e.g. CPU power management/sleep). Just my observations. YMMV. Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/249857-helpcant-install-os-x-black-screen/#findComment-1647605 Share on other sites
