canu7
I can't found anything about this laptop in this forums, and I need some help. The specs: Intel Core i5 480M at 2.67 GHz (Code name: Arrandale) Intel integrated graphics NVIDIA GeForce G 310M, 1GB DDR3 VRAM with optimus technology 4GB DDR3 RAM at 1066 MHz No optical drive. Blutooth, Webcam, Fingerprint, 1 USB 3.0 port... What I want: A triple boot: between Windows 7, Snow Leopard and Ubuntu. GPT And UEFI boot if possible (the laptop claims to support both BIOS and UEFI boot) What I got: I was able to install a retail 10.6.3 Snow Leopard (with Empire EFI from USB) Boot the installed system with the Empire EFI USB. Install the MBP 10.6.3 this way (no longer boot into graphical mode, only single user) What I've tried: (and obviously didn't work) [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] myHack This tutorial The main problem is that Asus have an infinite number of models not so different between, so the idea is to get a guide for the compatible ones (maybe U30JC, U33JC...) So... Any suggestion? How can I diagnose the problems? Some time it simply reboot with no output... Thanks for reading! Princess_Bubblegum
Hey, I actually just got a (rudimentary) triple boot working on my Asus Eee PC that also doesn't have an optical drive. I think you really really ought to take a look at this tutorial/ series video tut click here It's geared toward netbook users, so you'll have to do some figuring on your own. It's a pain in the butt getting triple boot working, be warned. Are you doing this on your only computer? Do you have a Mac or existing hackintosh to work with? (makes certain steps muuuuch easier) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/249559-snow-leopard-on-asus-u36jc/#findComment-1646307 Share on other sites
canu7
I saw the videos, but I doesn't help me too much. The triple boot isn't the problem. The chameleon bootloader will help me in that issue. What I want (and maybe it's too much to ask for) it's a usable SL installation. I think my notebook it's similar to the new Mac book pro and it can handle a retail SL and a vanila kernel. Any hints? canu7
I've managed to make that almost everything working well. The only thing remaing is the graphic card. Well both of them. 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Arrandale Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 18) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation Unknown device [10de:0a70] (rev a2) I'm running SL 10.6.4, without the AppleIntelHDGraphics kexts that cause me kernel panics. Right now I'm trying to compile the DSDL, but it gives me a lot of problems like: [Line 3154 type Error message Object does not exist (PICM)] [Line 3347 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.CPBG.IMCH.PM1L)] [Line 3347 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.CPBG.IMCH.PM1H)] [Line 3347 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.CPBG.IMCH.PM2L)] [Line 3347 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.CPBG.IMCH.PM2H)] [...] [Line 3868 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.VGAF)] [Line 3887 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.AVLD)] [Line 3999 type Error message Object does not exist (BRTI)] [Line 4006 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.PCI0.SBRG.EC0.PWAC)] [Line 4017 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.LBTN)] [Line 4018 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.PCI0.SBRG.EC0.STBR)] [Line 4030 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.SETD)] [Line 4061 type Error message Object does not exist (ISMI)] [Line 4619 type Error message Object does not exist (HPAE)] [Line 5089 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.SYNA)] [Line 5093 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.ALPS)] [Line 5097 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.ELAN)] [Line 5222 type Error message Object does not exist (DTGP)] [Line 5814 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.LDFT)] [Line 5826 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.HDDF)] [Line 5982 type Error message Object does not exist (\MSOS)] //MicroSoft Operation System??? Should I? Anyone is reading me? Am I talking alone? Have you tried DSDTFixer yet? I have a very similar notebook and that generated a DSDT for mine with no errors, only 13 warnings. As for the graphics: we seem to be pretty screwed. I wish ASUS would release a bios update to turn off the 310m or the intelGMA. The slight glimmer of hope I have is this guy Intel HD Graphics + NVIDIA Optimus who claims a work around. I'm sceptical though since nobody has corroborated or elaborated on this. You're not alone! God I feel like I am at times with Optimus...
