pippin418
I restored my Hackintosh from a Time Machine backup (back to 10.6.2) and the AppleBCM440XEthernet.kext isn't working. It will show Ethernet in System Preferences -> Network, but no matter what I do it will say that the cable is not connected. I've made sure it's loaded and everything. It worked before the restore, but now it doesn't work at all. I've tried different versions, loading with -f (and -v) and adding it to/getting a new IONetworking.kext. Any suggestions? pippin418
FIXED: Removing the /System/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist and starting up with nothing connected fixed it. I started up, plugged in the Ethernet cabled and voila!
