Hi,

A few months ago, I managed to install SL on my HP Mini 311 modifying (by intuition and guess work) a tutorial on LeMaurien19's blog. It is a dual boot setup (Win 7 original and SL). I've since upgraded to 10.6.6 (surprised that it worked out as well as it did). My install details are here in my own little guide (my reminder in case I have to reinstall):

As you can see, I used Retail Pack 0.9. Since then, RP 1.2 is out, and based on that, TheKing over at

http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1647 posted his latest and greatest installation files on page 1 of that forum. There was then subsequent development and troubleshooting. Since I am new, I am not allowed to post at the usual support forum (even though I passed "the quiz"?):

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=215587 where the answers might be easier to get.

My questions are these:

1. Are TheKing's download links described above updated with the subsequent developments and troubleshooting? If not, is there a place where all the currently blessed files are kept? Or do I have to download TheKing's originals and then follow the threads and download all of the modifications?

2. TheKing warns not to mix files (i.e., his release with older stuff). That's easy if the files have the same names as the old ones. I can just delete the old ones. But are there some older files whose names are no longer represented in the new release, that need to be deleted to avoid conflicts? I suspect so because different files are swapped out release to release to drive certain hardware. How would I know which files need to be removed other than the old ones with the same names as the new ones?

Thanks for any help. I'd like to upgrade to the latest and greatest because I still get the occasional KP, and the track pad is pretty hopeless.

Never mind. I went through the developer forum mentioned above and grabbed every confirmed improvement even though it might have been redundant with any updates to the original download links. Then I combed through for files mentioned that needed to be deleted. Everything is working fine now. No more KP so far (but only two days). Unfortuntately, track pad tap-click still can't be turned off (source of many typing errors from too-sensitive touch pad).

If anyone wants the details, ask here and I'll list what I did.
