Hello! :blowup:

After many hours of exepriments I wrote guide (http://pastebin.com/5uuLyjhT) describing how to install retail 10.6.6 on hardware similar/identical to mine:

* MB : Gigabyte G31M-ES2L rev2.3 [according to spec its identical to rev2.0]

* CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz@3.2Ghz

* GPU: Patriot 2x2GB OC Edition

* GPU: nVidia GeForce 9800GT [reference]

* HDD: WD Corp. 500GB SATA

* ODD: Unknown LG on SATA

I tested many diff solutions for sound - only one workd - VoodooHDA, but sound is rly bad (not acceptable for anyone).

Can someone help me to run ALC883 using LegacyALC883.kext or other method?

Hi,

the method is replacing the AppleHDA.Kext with the 10.6.2 upgrade one, and then adding the legacyALC883.kext.

You can use Kext Utility to do it.

Otherwise, how's your experience with 10.6.6? I installed it, it worked perfectly during some days but afterwards it started giving me problems with usb, and finally I got a kernel panic.

Regards.

Your guide looks very similar too http://pastebin.com/s9FdN9GY, which if you wrote the guide as your sentence above states, you would know much more about your hardware, based on your previous guide. So why not use the method originally in the guide?

As a side note, the guide mentioned above claims the alc883 is actually an alc888. While I haven't tried this guide to get my sound working personally yet (I'm too lazy). I had found a installer over on the mess that is kexts.com which installs AppleAzailiaAudio.kext and has great sound, the only drawback is it's 32bit only. When I get buggered enough to get pure 64bit kernel running, I'll prob give that other guide mentioned above a shot.
