amilmac Posted January 25, 2011 Share Posted January 25, 2011 Hello friends, I have installed Snow Leopard 10.6.6 in acer aspire 5610z ( i need only some drivers to work). I only used latest NBI (NetbookInstaller), a 10.6.3 retail dmg image a usb pendrive and the latest 10.6.6 combo. And very easy: First with DiskUtility burn the retail dmg onto the USB pendrive and later run NBI to make necesary changes. Rebooting via USB loads perfect and native installation go OK. At reboot, download 10.6.6 combo update (not from software update, we need to install more software later update) and install it. Without restart, run again NetbookInstaller, in this case select the hard disk instead usb. The result: the latest 10.6.6 snow leopard running fast and stable. So only are necessary some drivers to get working. Here specs and all is working/NOT working: Processor / Speed Intel Core Duo processor T2300 or higher - OK, detects model speed OK Core Logic Chipset Intel 945GM Express - Intel GMA 950 - Working full with QE/CI WIFI Atheros AR5005 - NOT working (please help!) Sound ALC883 - NOT working With this last fixs will be an amazing system. In 10.6.0 i get working wifi, but the IO80211NetworkingFamily.kext not working in 10.6.6 All kexts i have tried about wifi/sound not working please help me solving this issues, will be hight appreciated! Kind regards, Amil amilmac, I have built several and to be honest there is multiple options in getting to where you want to be with this... I have recently done an ACER Aspire 3680, its was a single core CPU but none the less a decent contender for the install, I have also done a couple of Dell D620 Laptops which in my short experience is the easiest of all, in 2 evenings I had the Dell up and running with only the WiFi to replace, the next Dell I bought I made sure it had the DW1490 (Basically not the Intel WiFi) and this was done in one evening... I now use the original apple install disk 10.6.3 with a modified leppy700 (google it) D620.iso boot CD, this will boot to CD for you the rest is the install... with the original Apple Snow Leopard DVD there is no tweaking to be done, if during the install you see over on the right a Wifi Icon click on it and log into your local network, I would recommend you buy or make sure the laptop has a Dell Wifif card if not you can find plenty on ebay for $10 including delivery, I have not tested out the Bluetooth option on the Dell as neither one had a BT Card but I believe they do work... I have rarely found that the Audio not working, usually the Apple default kext works out of the box for audio, but some laptops make good Hackintoshes some not so good, so chose if you can.. problem with laptops is you can change something like the sound card so it may just be a non-runner... So, for wifi i have to download full 10.6.4 combo and get the Wifi kext (i remember IO80211.kext or similar) and add pci device. A have downloaded some kext that supposed to be 10.6.4 -modified- but never working, i have to download all combo and done myself to get working, this is not the best way but is the only way i get working wifi And sound i am using Voodoo sound driver. This causes sometimes any crash on boot -due voodoo driver-, but is not a great mistake, reboot again Thanks again for help and i hope this can help someone.
