So the last part of getting my hackintosh completed is wireless. I will try to be as thorough as possible in what I have done.

I have a Linksys WMP54G v4.1 card. I cannot see the card under system preferences, but when I run:

$sudo lspci

I get this output:

....

....

5:00.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI

Because of this, I know the machine can see the card. I downloaded the drivers from the RaLink website (which states it works on 10.6). I have read on other forums that the driver only works for PPC and not Intel. In response to that, I installed Rosetta from the OS X Install DVD, under the extras folder. Yet, I am not able to setup a wireless network connection. When I open the RaLink program, it states "No Device!!". I have combed through who knows how many forums and have not found a solution.

If someone can help me get this card to work, I would be forever indebted to them. My other options are to use a Linksys AMP55AG v2.1 card, but I would need help getting that to work if it's even compatible. If neither card works, then I will just build my own (which I have seen instructions for elsewhere). Also, please don't have me look at the HCL because it doesn't help.

If you have questions or need more information, please don't hesitate to ask because I would really like to get wireless working so I can close up the box. Thank you in advance.

You must download the utility directly from the manufacturer (not the chipset manufacturer). I have a USB Rosewill Wireless adapter using a Ralink chipset and tried using the Ralink drivers but landed in the same situation. I went to Rosewill's site to download drivers and they work successfully. Both use the same utility, but I guess the drivers from Ralink aren't tuned for the overall device (ie. the same Ralink chip can be used in different devices--USB, PCI--but needs a compatible software interface)

I guess I am going to have to build my own then. Based on my understanding of what you said, I would need to download the utility from Linksys. I looked on the Linksys website and there are now OS X drivers. If I interpreted your reply incorrectly, please let me know.
