Rammjet
Mac OS X is on a logical, FAT32 partition. The first step of the installation is to go to the Utilities menu and format the partition using Disk Utility. The partition needs to be formatted as HFS+ (MacOS Extended Journaled). Did you do that? When you try to boot OSX, it first goes to a black screen before going to a grey screen. As soon as the screen turns black, start tapping the F8 key to get to a command prompt. At the prompt, enter -v and press Enter. Watch for errors on the screen.
