I've recently installed Snow Leopard and I found out that my pc boots once every three, if I'm lucky xD seems to have some random kernel crashes, first time it crashes while loading fakesmc, then I force the shutdown (using the power button, it's the only way, ctrl+alt+canc doesn't work), the it crashes after an error from AppleUSB driver (that comes randomly sometimes), I power off again and the third time it may boot. I have a Packard Bell EasyNote TJ65 cu 108IT, if you need I can post an lspci. Could you help me to find out what the problem is? I thought it could be the BIOS (version 1.30, upgradeable to 1.31), could it be? Thank in advance. [EDIT] I upgraded the BIOS to the latest version, but the problem is still there. Can you help me, guys? Â And boot in single user mode, type fsck -fy at prompt, if it says System was modified then press up arrow a n re-run until it says system appears to be ok (with no "system modified message). I had the problem even before updates, anywhere I've done all the updates and I'm running the latest version. uname -a says I'm using "Darwin Kernel Version 10.5.0"... I've not the USB fix, is it the problem? For the version of the fakesmc I attach the Info.plist because I can't tell, I'm new to this system... Yes you are using 10.5 kernel. I've not the USB fix, is it the problem? If you are having kernel panics with the USB driver then it could be and had them before you did the 10.6.5 update then you probably need a fix. May not have to. update chameleon to 2 rc5, there is a USB fix in the pref pane or you can add it manually to the com.Apple.boot.plist. Do a search for chameleon usb fix.. Is there another way to apply this patch? Consider I tried to install latest Chameleon from pkg but it didn't work, I had just grub as BL. I'm driving nuts because Mac is going on giving this error and I have to try tons of times before it completes the boot... I followed your advice and installed new chameleon activating usb fix from prefpane, and now works like a charm!!! Kernel panics sometimes while booting (on process kernel_task or kextd), but the most of the times it boots correctly and it works!!! Thank you so much, you saved my mac!
