danfloun
Hi guys, Background: I'm a seasoned Windows tech with some experience in various Linux distros. I've been running windows xp pro x64 for years, as far as I'm concerned it's the best Microsoft has to offer. I always wanted to get into macs too but the cost stopped me, but now my needs have changed and figured I try some hackintoshin' Yeah I know my setup isn't ideal, but anythings possible with enough determination right! :/ My Box: Asus Crosshair (original) - NFORCE MCP 590 Chipset (damit) AMD Athlon X2 X64 6400+ Corsair Fast Ram 4GB 1 x Velociraptor 150GB SATAII 1 x Raptor 74GB SATAI 1 x SONY DVD-+RW SATAI No IDE Drives. For the sake of this project I have disabled the raptor drive so I have the velociraptor HDD and sony DVD-+RW connected only. The bios has been flash with the lastest revision and I have configured it as per instructions for mac os x install. Method of install: Original Retail Disc install using the Empire EFI V1.085 for AMD systems. The install goes fine, I can see my hdd and I created an extended partition using GUID for the hdd map. Once installed, reboot with the empire cd and it boots into SL. Apps load, everything looks reasonable. I run the myHack RC5 installer of the empire efi cd everything is installs and I reboot to a black screen, verbose doesn't help. To cut a long story short I have to install AppleNForceATA.kext to get it booting on its own. That much works, the problem is the system is very slow and very unresponsive. So I downloaded and tried other AppleNForceATA.kexts found online, same result! I've also tried the SuperNForceATA.kext, don't think that worked at all. So after much messing, reinstalling, more messing, I have definately narrowed it down to an issue with the sata drivers. I know this is a problematic controller, I also know people have it working fine. Any help would be very appreciated, I'm getting frustrated to hell at the moment. Cheers Danny Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241423-pulling-my-friggin-hair-out/ Share on other sites

Cheers Danny To be properly bootable OS X should be on a primary volume partition Since you cannot use a vanilla kernel because of your AMD CPU, what happens when you boot the patched kernel using -v arch=i386 cpus=1 busration=20 maxmem=2048, or -v arch=i386 cpus=1 busration=16 maxmem=2048......?
